 1941 Eastern Front Campaign - Battle 2

This was a fight between a German Tank Platoon and a Soviet Machine-Gun Artillery Platoon.
 
 
This is the battlefield.  The Soviets start dug-in, the Germans are off table.

As the first German tank brewed up, the other German units scattered off of the road.

A Soviet LMG squad and an MMG await softer targets.

The Soviet light anti-tank guns kept up long-range ineffective fire.

German infantry de-bus.


The Germans begin to envelope the Soviet right flank.



The isolated LMG unit is assaulted.

Soviets start to re-deploy forces from thier left flank.

The Soviet shot bounded off the German tanks.


The Soviet anti-tank guns were being shot upon by the tanks/



The Germans wiped out the anti-tank guns and the Soviets retreated.

Bolt Action Fortifications  Here is a selection of Bolt Action fortifications.  Some I made using MDF bases and bought in accessories, some are pre-built resin pieces.  All were painted by me. Eight anti-tank sections, each 2" by 8" giving 64" of anti-tank lines.  I also have two resin sections. Ten minefields, each 6" by 6".  That is 60" width of mines. Fourteen sections of barbed wire, each 8" by 2", giving 112" of wire. Resin trench sections, including a pillbox/bunker, machinegun and gun positions, plus two seperate earth and timber bunkers. The resin from above.  Both earth and timber bunkers were amended.  One I dropped and had to rebase (the bunker had no base) after it broke into two.  The bunker at the top-left of the picture was too low for a kneeling crew inside so I added some wooden downling to it, An overhead view, showing the two resin anti-tank sections. Some of the fortifications in action, including the rebased bunker.

 1941 Eastern Front Campaign - Battle 13 - Isolated Germans Attacked  German Zug 3 had been cut-off from its supply lines by Soviet units south of it.  It was attacked by Soviet Platoon 5, which, in moving to oppose Zug 3, had also got stranded from its supplies.  Both Platoons suffered from Fuel Shortage and Ammunition Shortage. The game was played with Bob using his new Germans and myself using my Soviets. I didn't take many pictures and those I did were poor quality, for which I aplogise. The Germans started dug-in.  The Germans had a ten-man Veteran squad supported by a three-man Veteran Pioneer Squad with a flame-thrower on their left flank.  The Soviets attacked the German left flank!  The German platoon was very beaten-up, having been starved of replacements.  However, it was still fairly strong in infantry and support.  The Soviets had an advantage in armour.
