1941 Eastern Front Campaign Maps

This is the map I used.  The tiles are for a Russian Civil War game called "Beyond the River Don". Each turn Soviet, Romanian and German troops moved over the maps.  Units moving on foot went half a tile each turn; units which were tracked went three quarters of a move or one and a half if moving by road.  Wheeled units moved one square or two squares if moving by road. Turn 2.  German motorised units try and surround Gordinische but run into a Soviet tank platoon, leading to battle 1.  The Soviets have a fortified area south of the town, whilst the Romanians move on foot up the left flank. Turn 3.  Following a sucessful advance the Germans consolidate. Turn 4 was skipped due to bad administration on my part.  This is Turn 5 map.  The Germans try and surround Gordinische again, this time the armoured platoon tries to attack a dug-in Soviet Machine Gun Artillery platoon.  This is Battle 2.  The map shows the MGA1 platoon after it retreated.  The Romanians have arrived south o

1941 Eastern Front Campaign - Battle 4 The Romanians has originally been the left-flank guard, supposed to defend the river crossings.  At the urging of the Germans the Romanians had crossed the river and cut the road and railway links into Gordinische.  The Soviets now intended to drive them back over the river. The battlefield. The Romanians started on table, in the tree-line mainly.  A Soviet infantry platoon was supported by a Soviet tank platoon of BA-10 armoured cars. The Romanians have three squads, a Pz38T and a captured BA-10.  Plus guns and MMG etc. A Soviet Machine Gun Artillery Platoon attacked south of the river. A Soviet BA-10 burns as the Soviets press. A long-range fire fight south of the river. As the Romanians fall back, a second Romanian platoon arrived from reserve.  The units start to get mingled up. The Soviets prepare to storm the bridge as their colleagues provide long-range cover. Fighting in the woods is confused and bloody. Close-range fire fights on the bri

1941 Eastern Front Campaign - Battle 3  Following the repairs to the railway lines into Gordinische the Soviets had built up their forces.  This attack was by a Soviet infantry platoon, fresh off the train, supported by a Soviet tank platoon.  The Germans were the previous victors of Battle 2.  From Turn 4 onwards a German infantry platoon arrived from reserve. The Germans are in leagure whilst the Soviets attack. Three T-34s, two with five tank riders each, and the infantry march on. All inexperienced, the Soviets have three squads, a light anti-tank gun and an MMG. The Germans have three Panzer III E, a light anti-tank gun and a small infantry squad. First blood to the Germans as a T34 burns. The Soviet infantry advance whilst the tanks skirmish. German infantry arrive in support. A Panzer III burns, but the German infantry counter-attack.  Soviets try and take out a Panzer by infantry asault whilst the Germans unload thier 88mm AA gun. The infantry fights are brutal.
